Bead & Glass Art Mobile
For my latest home decor project, I decided to create a unique hanging art piece that combines driftwood, glass, beads, and wire.
Materials gathered:
Piece of driftwood
Leftover glass pieces from previous homeowners
Assorted beads
Thin gauge wire
Drill and appropriate bits
Preparation of driftwood:
Cleaned and dried the driftwood
Carefully drilled small holes at various points for hanging
Crafting individual elements:
Wrapped wire around glass pieces to create patterns
Threaded beads onto wire for added texture
Combined wire-wrapped glass and beads in some pieces
Created a variety of sizes and styles
Assembly process:
Cut wire to different lengths for varied hanging heights
Attached handcrafted pieces to the driftwood through drilled holes
Balanced the arrangement for visual appeal
Design considerations:
Ensured a mix of colors and shapes throughout
Created a multi-level, cascading effect
Aimed for a dynamic composition that catches light
Final touches:
Adjusted wire lengths as needed for balance
Secured all connections to ensure durability
Result:
A unique, handcrafted mobile combining found and repurposed materials
An artistic piece that casts interesting light patterns
A personal expression of creativity and craftsmanship
